JGP
SUMMER 2013

Hello Theater Families!

Well . . . after many days of thinking and working hard with Aspen SKi Co to create the summer vision of Theater on the Mountain, to be performed at Elk Camp Restaurant , I am sorry to report that this year the vision is not going to work as we had hoped. On an exciting note, however, the project is still in the works, and we now have plenty of time to truly plan for The Sound of Music to be performed on the mountain next year. Separately, and even more exciting - it opens this summer for us to create an incredible arts program in its place.

So . . on that note, I have done some shifting and revamping to the summer plans which I think will actually offer a whole lot more for everyone, and in fact will serve the wonderful fall production that JGP is planning!!

I apologize for announcing the date and show mid-March before Ski CO and I had everything set, however, I knew many of you were eager to do some summer planning, and I wanted to be sure to get dates and plans out to you all in service to your family planning and summer schedules as soon as I could.

I am sincerely grateful for your understanding and flexibility. I hope that I have made appropriate changes and am announcing the new plans for summer 2013 early enough that should there be any changes or reworkings on your part, you have plenty of time. So . . . please please, read below and see all that there is to offer! I hope something works for all of you interested in participating and if not, we have fall and next summer to look forward to!!!!

With Much Excitement,
Jayne Gottlieb

These summer sessions are intended to help deepen and encourage the art of performance.  Students can expect to be coached, taught and will be given the opportunity to dive into a smaller piece with more focus and technique.  Over the 5 days, we intend to more carefully develop students process so that acting, dance and performance technique can begin to be applied in future shows and auditions.

If your young actor has any interest in moving deeper into the art of theater than we can go while working on a full scale production, both summer sessions will be perfect avenue to grow as a performer.

Students who are interested in participating in the fall production of 42nd Street are highly encouraged to be a part of one or both of these sessions.  These students will be given a familiarity with the dancing and the text which will be an advantage in their preparedness for the Fall Production!!!

42ns Street Logo
42nd Street tells the story of a humble, naïve young actress named Peggy Sawyer who has come to audition for a new Broadway musical,. Unfortunately, due to her nervousness, Peggy arrives to the audition late and misses her chance to join the chorus. Luckily, Peggy soon catches the eye of the famous director, Julian Marsh, and he gives Peggy her big break. However, the show's aging leading lady, Dorothy Brock, quickly grows to dislike Peggy. On opening night, Ms. Brock falls and breaks her ankle. Panic spreads through the company, as the show is doomed for closure, until it is suggested that Peggy take the roll. In only thirty-six hours, Peggy learns twenty-five pages, six songs and ten dance numbers and becomes a star.
